Taking a kind and patient approach to teaching guitar, I am your personal guitar tutor. I tailor my lesson plans to each student and their needs. New and advanced guitar players can benefit from learning from an experienced musician.

One of the greatest aspects of JBM’s music lessons is their versatility. My lessons are specifically designed for kids, but all ages and skill levels are welcome. Lesson plans are customized to the student’s age, abilities, goals, and preferences. The first priority is to deliver fun & educationally enriching lessons that involve the student learning the songs that they love! Customized guitar lessons for beginners (young or old) can include any of the following: guitar fundamentals such as tuning the guitar & hand technique, reading music, chords, scales, duet playing, etc.
Everyone starts somewhere different, and I get that. Additionally, I offer more advanced guitar classes for experienced guitar players. Skills taught during our advanced and intermediate guitar lessons include: blues guitar, improvisation, jazz concepts & repertoire, transcribing, etc.
Learning to play songs on the guitar is a process. That’s why I use specialized workbooks that help my students learn the songs that they love while developing their skills. My patient approach to teaching encourages asking questions and finding a personal style over rushing through the curriculum.
Various Styles
I do not limit myself to teaching one type of guitar. I offer electric and acoustic guitar lessons. The electric guitar is easier to start with, but I don’t limit anyone’s creativity, so you or your child can choose the medium you prefer.
I also teach kids and adults how to play their favorite genres of music. On the guitar, you can learn to play pop, rock, jazz, blues, R&B, and many other types of music. Whichever style of music is being taught, the students will learn the songs that they love while receiving all the academic benefits of learning music.

With a strong understanding of various teaching approaches for kids and all ages, various instruments, and music theory, I make sure that all students receive the advantages and opportunities that learning music can provide. I always schedule extra time in between my student’s time slots for review and am generous with my time.
My curriculum stands out because it consists of 10 levels workbooks per instrument that I teach. The workbooks ensure students learn the fundamentals of their instrument while also learning the songs they love. Higher levels of the workbooks will take the student through more advanced concepts and song writing. This workbook curriculum is a benefit that is available to all of my students!
I am always available for my students, providing extra support and clarification as needed, including after and between lessons.
Every student is different, so I create customized arrangements of requested songs tailored to each student. This allows the student to learn the songs that they love! The process includes adapting them to each student’s unique skill level.

Los Angeles Guitar Lessons FAQs
Private guitar lessons are available as 30, 60, & 90 min lessons. I have an enrollment process in place so that I can learn more about an incoming student before they enroll. At the end of an enrollment process I know enough about a prospective student to make a recommendation as to what the best path forward would be for them. This would include my recommendation for their lesson length. However, generally, children between 5 – 12 work best with 30 min lessons, 13+ (including adults) work best with 60 min lessons, and older individuals (65+) might work best with 30 min lessons. 90 min lessons can work well for teenagers and adults who have many goals to achieve in their lesson plan.
Yes! I create customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s goals. Having lessons with a teacher will keep the students accountable while honing their skills. My program involves the opportunity for students to perform their own in-home concert to have a clear destination to work towards. Learning one-on-one with a professional instructor will help the student develop good habits and receive valuable feedback.
At JBM Music Lessons, two-on-one guitar lessons are available for students who want to learn together. We recommend both students are at a similar skill level to let the instructor divide his attention evenly between the two. Group lessons for more than two students are also available for students who are at a similar age and skill level. Please inquire about rates & lesson duration for both two-on-one and group lessons.
