Beginners’ lesson plans that are specifically created for them (young or old) may contain any of the following: Fundamentals of the guitar, including tuning and hand technique, music theory, chords, scales, duet playing, etc.
I understand that everyone has a different starting point. I also provide more difficult classes for accomplished guitarists. Our advanced and intermediate guitar lessons cover a variety of topics, such as blues guitar, improvisation, jazz concepts and repertoire, transcribing, etc.
It takes time to develop songwriting skills on the guitar. Because of this, JBM offers special workbooks that help kids learn the songs they love while honing their skills. Finding an own style and asking questions are encouraged by my patient teaching style.

JBM Music Lessons in Hollywood Hills does not limit itself to teaching one type of guitar. I offer electric and acoustic guitar lessons. The electric guitar is easier to start with, but I don’t limit anyone’s creativity, so you or your child can choose the medium you prefer.

Lesson rates start at $370 monthly for weekly lessons.
Private lessons are available as 30, 60, & 90 min lessons. I have an enrollment process in place so that I can learn more about an incoming student before they enroll. At the end of an enrollment process I know enough about a prospective student to make a recommendation as to what the best path forward would be for them. This would include my recommendation for their lesson length. However, generally, children between 5 – 12 work best with 30 min lessons, 13+ (including adults) work best with 60 min lessons, and older individuals (65+) might work best with 30 min lessons. 90 min lessons can work well for teenagers and adults who have many goals to achieve in their lesson plan.
Yes! I create customized lesson plans that are tailored to each student’s goals. Having lessons with a teacher will keep the student accountable while honing their skills, and my program involves the opportunity for students to perform their own in-home concert so that they have a clear destination to work towards.. Learning one-on-one with a professional instructor will help the student develop good habits and receive valuable feedback.
At JBM Music Lessons, two-on-one guitar lessons are available for students who want to learn together. We recommend both students are at a similar skill level to let the instructor divide his attention evenly between the two. Group lessons for more than two students are also available for students who are at a similar age and skill level. Please inquire about rates & lesson duration for both two-on-one and group lessons.
